Wouldn't it be amazing to live near the canals of Amsterdam, Big Ben or the old city streets of Florence? For some, the prospect is almost too enticing to not dream about. Alas, it seems the natives in these areas don't feel the same way.
Oftentimes, people living in tourist destinations complain they have to deal with a lot. At times this burden becomes too much to handle, leading to public outcry..
Today we're going to share stories of some irritated natives getting even with their rude visitors. So here we go!
#1 - Laughing and chatting aren't always welcome
Naturally, people gathering at a spot would laugh and chat about things. But sometimes, it could be hurtful to others' sentiments, like this former employee of the World Trade Center (WTC). When a group of middle-aged female tourists laughed and chatted in front of the remains of the WTC, a former employee got offended and called them out over their actions, needless to say, their smiles disappeared pretty quickly.
#2 - Not all people hunt; some visit grocery stores!
With a lot of pueblo's residing in New Mexico (NM), people always think they still practice old traditions, which is actually not true! Once upon a time, when a river rafting guide (native of NM) was carrying a family of four on his raft, a bighorn sheep appeared, and the whole family was naturally taken aback. When the group had passed the sheep, the mom asked the guide if there were still Indians hunting in that spot, to which he replied that they visit the grocery stores for their food supplies. (C'mon mom, step up your game!)
#3 - Where does all the snow go in summer?
Reading the tagline above, you might be judging us for asking such silly questions, but in fact, this was a question posed by one of the tourists. While skiing in Western NC, a lady from Florida popped this question to a worker. And surprisingly, when the worker said they trucked all the ice into a refrigerated cave, she actually bought it (wait, what!!).
#4 - Safety flags are for kids!
In Australia, many tourists avoid swimming between the safety flags. When they see natives sticking to the rules, some of them end up giving weird looks as if to say, "are you serious?" But do you know most tourist deaths in Australia happen due to drowning, followed by sunburn? So the next time when someone offers you advice about swimming between the flags or offers you sunscreen or a hat, we’d recommend you take it.
#5- Stay alert, mama bear's watching...
Driving through the Canadian Rockies, many people stop midway to whip out their cameras and take photos of the animals passing by. Oftentimes, pics of female bears walking with their cubs get viral but what most of the people taking these photos forget about is maintaining a safe distance from the group. Now we aren't saying bears can't be friendly, but remember, they can be aggressive too.
So, which of these random tourist acts do you find more amusing? Do let us know!
