Twins are truly fascinating, but what is it about them that makes them so captivating? Young ones are jealous of them because who doesn't wish for an identical partner-in-crime? We idolize twin celebrities like Cole and Dylan Sprouse, Mary-kate Olsen, and Ashley Olsen and some women love the idea of twins so much that they start conception-friendly diets for a higher chance of having twins!

Today we’re here to fill you in on all the fun and interesting things there are to know about twins! So keep reading because some of these facts are sure to leave you extremely surprised!

1. Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead

In 2010, a set of twins known by the name of Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah murdered their mother at their home. However, it wasn't until years later that the two confessed before being given the nickname of the “twisted twins.”  In relation, a couple of studies have proven that if one twin gets involved in some sort of criminal activity, there is a high chance that the other twin will as well.

2. Rate of Twin Births

Back in the late 1900s, there was a twin birth in around every 58 births. However, there have been many upgrades in fertility treatments in the past 30 years which has caused a big change in the rate of twin birth. In 2014, it was observed that every one in 28 births was a twin birth!

3. Identical and Fraternal Twins

It has been studied that fraternal twins are more common than identical twins. Around 3.3% of the people in America are twins. However, only 0.3% of them are identical. Research also tells us that more than 11 million identical twins walk the Earth's surface today.

4. Mythologies

Many African and Native American mythologies have sets of twins representing the opposing forces of good and evil.

5. How Rome Was Founded

Romulus was presumably the founder of Rome who decidedly built a city on the site where he and Remus, his twin brother, were saved when they were babies.

6. Twin Birth

It is possible for twins to be born days, months, and even years apart! An incident took place in 2005 wherein a woman had twins babies that were born two months apart, meaning she had to give birth twice in two months!
