Who is Bill Gates?
Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. His father, William Henry Gates II, was an attorney, and his mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, served on charitable boards. He is the middle child of three children. Bill was a proficient student and received a scholarship to attend Harvard University in 1973. However, he dropped out of college before completing his degree to pursue his passion for computer programming.
Early Life and Education
Bill's interest in computers began in his teenage years when he was allowed to have computer time at his high school. Later, he attended Lakeside, an elite private school with a computer club. At the age of 13, he wrote his first computer program. Gates continued to develop his skills, and by the time he was in college, he and his business partner, Paul Allen, were already working on computer software programs.

Microsoft and the Rise of a Billionaire
Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft Corporation in 1975. Microsoft's first product was BASIC, a programming language. They later developed many other software products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the famous Windows operating system. Windows 95 was a turning point in Microsoft's success as a software company. Gates' leadership made Microsoft one of the most successful companies in the world. The rise of Microsoft and its success led to Bill Gates' becoming a millionaire and eventually a billionaire.
Philanthropy and Personal Life of Bill Gates
Bill Gates' philanthropic efforts are perhaps as impressive as his business accomplishments. In 2000, he and his wife, Melinda, founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support global health and education initiatives. The Foundation has contributed over $50 billion to various causes, including research into infectious diseases, polio eradication, and education reform.
Besides his philanthropic initiatives, Bill Gates has many hobbies and interests. He is an avid reader and blogger and plays tennis regularly. He is also a devoted father to his three children.

Awards and Recognition for Bill Gates’ Work
In recognition of his contributions, Bill Gates has received many awards and honors throughout his life. In 2004, 2005, and 2006, he was named among Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World. He has also received numerous honorary doctorates from various institutions and universities, including Cambridge, Oxford, and Harvard. In 2016, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Obama. More recently, he was awarded the prestigious Hilal-e-Pakistan for Social Work in Pakistan in 2022.
